Gladstone Region: Make The Move

Theodore

Theodore is a town of considerable elegance and originality. Formally known as Castle Creek and later named after one of Australia's most controversial politicians, Queensland Premier E. G. 'Red Ted' Theodore, Theodore was 'planned on the most modern lines'. Traversing the township from north to south is a spacious garden boulevard, intersected at intervals by avenues which have also been planted with palms and shade trees. In the centre of the town is an oval with the whole impression a look alike to the street plan of Australia's capital city, Canberra.

Theodore is a small inland commercial centre on the Leichhardt Highway between the junction of Castle Creek and the Dawson River, and is 140m above sea level. Situated just 84 kms from the capital of the Banana Shire, Biloela, Theodore serves the agricultural and pastoral needs of a portion of the Banana Shire bordered by coal-mining at Moura in the North and occasional gold-mining at Cracow in the South.

Today, Theodore offers a fantastic lifestyle, a friendly, helpful community with great sporting facilities, active service clubs and community organisations.
